Flattening the Conference Floor
ImageThink has always been enthusiastic about the exchange of big ideas, particularly within the technology industry. Encouraging engagement with these ideas is one of the reasons why we attend, and provide visual recording for, conferences like South by Southwest Interactive (SXSW).
To that end, ImageThink partnered with advertising firm Ogilvy & Mather to bring visual note taking to SXSW in a program called Ogilvy Notes. Looking to engage audiences in a new way, as well as capture and memorialize the wealth of thought-leadership and ideas on display, we created hundreds of visual notes in real-time for the biggest keynote speakers and panels at the event each day.
Our ImageBoards were photographed, digitized, and printed overnight and available to tens of thousands of attendees the next morning, offering everyone at SXSW to experience everything the conference had to offer, even gleaning insights from simultaneous sessions.
More Understandable, Memorable, and Sharable
Visual recording adds value to any conference or meeting, especially for presentations on a large scale like SXSW. Two-thirds of people have a predominantly visual learning style, and images have been shown to greatly increase the retention of auditory information. Visual notes provided at conferences such as SXSW allow attendees to enjoy a far richer experience of the information, which increases audience engagement with both the event and the speaker. Plus, in recognition of the activation, the Ogilvy Notes program was recognized with a Cannes Lions citation.
In our years recording SXSW, ImageThink provided visual notes for speakers such as chef and TV personality Anthony Bourdain, “confidence man” Frank Abangale of Catch Me If You Can fame, entrepreneur Steve Case and CEO and Co-founder of LivingSocial Tim O’Shaughnessy. Ogilvy Notes also covered topics such as the future of music consumption, start-ups in the 21st century and many others.
